The Chamonix Valley

Located in the French northern Alps, the Chamonix valley has stunning scenery and a wide variety of things to do. The valley is 16km long and is home to 13 ski resorts. It is only a short drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel to Courmayer in Italy.

It has some of the most spectacular scenery in the area with Europe's highest peak, Mont Blanc, overlooking many of the towns and villages. The area is famous for the outdoor activities that it offers. There are over hundreds of kilometres of walking and biking trails (including the Tour du Mont Blanc), some of the best skiing in the world, mountaineering and even ice climbing!

Outdoor activities are not the only activities on offer in the valley.  There are museums, markets, shops, a nature reserve, a spa, Europe's highest cable car and even a glacier to visit.

Should you want to explore further afield there is always the pretty town of Annecy with its lake, chateau, museum and old town. Or you could try Geneva, Yvoire or even Courmayer in Italy.
