There are many activities that are available all year round in St Gervais and the surrounding area. You can take Europe's
highest cable car up to the Aiguille du Midi and once
at the top you can eat in the restaurant or just take in the panoramic
views on the viewing platforms. Or take
the Montenevers rack rail train will to the foot of the Mer
de Glace (Sea of Ice), Europe's largest living glacier. Once
at the glacier you can visit the Ice Grotto carved out of the glacier.
The Parc Thermal in Saint Gervais/Le Fayet is the perfect
place to relax. The

Le Forêt du Mont Blanc adventure park in Les
Houches is open all year. Here you can move from tree
to tree by rope slides, bridges, gangways, ladders and beams.
There is an indoor ice skating rink in St Gervais which is open all year and is one of the homes to the Mont Blanc ice hockey team and regularly hosts ice hockey matches during the season.
Other activities that are available

12 - 20 July St Gervais Tennis Open. A clay court tournament with $15 000 prize money
14 July Bastille Day celebrations. Plenty of festivities and a fabulous fireworks display
Every Thursday from 24 July - 28 August is a free historical tour of the town. Meet at 4:00 pm, on the Promenad du Mont Blanc
18 July The first X Fly parapscending challenge passing over. Crossing the Alps, from Vercors Sud to the Pays du Mont Blanc in 5 stopping places and with only 5 bivouacs
20 July Race to the Nid D'Aigle. Come and encourage the runners in their 1800m climb up to the Nid D'Aigle
21 July Classical Flute and Violin concert by DUO NEREUS in the church at 8.30pm
2 - 3 August The Mountain Guides Festival. A weekend where the town thank the wondeful work that the guides do here. There's a free introduction to climbing for children, climbing demonstrations and a dinner on the Saturday. A Mass followed by a procession and then a Benediction of the ropes and ice picks on the Sunday.

6 August Ice skating gala at the olympic sized ice rink

16 - 17 August Mountain biking Raid. 80% decents and ridiculous speeds

Walking
In summer there are hundreds of well marked mountain paths for walking in and around
St Gervais. They
range from easy family walks to more challenging hikes. St Gervais is one of the starting points for the famous

Mountain biking
St Gervais is part of the Diamond Vert VTT circuit which has 90km of track, 11 lifts and covers Megève, Saint Nicolas de Véroce, Demi-Quartier, Combloux, La Giettaz, Flumet, Praz sur Arly, Notre-Dame de Bellecombe and Les Contamines Montjoie. Climbing
Here are a selection of climbing routes that are all within 20 minutes of St Gervais but there are many, many more only slightly further afield.

Golf
Nearby Megève has an 18-hole golf course. The course has excellent
facilities and is
open to non-members in the summer (June-October depending on snow conditions).

Swimming
St Gervais has a heated, outdoor swimming pool that is open from early June until mid September. The nearest indoor swimming pool is at the Thermal park in Le Fayet. There are also swimming lakes in nearby Les Contamines and Passy.
Horse riding

Animal park
The Merlet Animal Park in nearby Les Houches is open from 1 May to 30 September. You
can walk around the park and see the park's resident animals - marmottes,
chamois goats, Lamas and a number of other animals.

Winter
Skiing/Snow boarding
St Gervais has a wonderful ski area with skiing for all abilities and a snow park for snow boarders. The Evasion ski pass gives access to over 500km of pistes in St Gervais, St Nicolas de Veroce, Les Contamines, Megève, La Giettaz, Combloux, Jaillet and Les Houches (via the Tramway).

If you fancy something
different you can take the Mont Blanc tramway from St Gervais which will take you to Bellevue and will give you access
to the Les Houches ski area. During
the trip you will get a panoramic view of the Bionnassay Glacier and the
Chamonix and Contamine valleys. The journey takes approximately one
hour.
Cross country skiing
